ST. AILBE SCHOOL ALUMNI

                                        ALUMNI

Welcome Home for all Alumni...Graduate Silhouette

To all graduates of St Ailbe Catholic School

There are many ways to support St. Ailbe Catholic School.. As a spin-off  we are in the process of building an Alumni recruiting program.  We are looking for interested Alumni to assist our recruiting efforts in a variety of ways.

As a graduate of St Ailbe Catholic School, you are in a unique position to communicate what it feels like to be a student here, as well... as what is
to be gained from a  Catholic School education.  Your working knowledge of our school and its programs make you an invaluable resource to the school.

It is no secret that our Alumni are some of the best representatives of the school, especially when it comes to referrals of prospective students. We are proud of the commitment and continued support our Alumni provide.

We tell students that our graduates do well when they leave St. Ailbe Catholic School. Now we can prove that by having an Alumni tell the students themselves. "The proof is in the pudding."

St Ailbe Alumni share a common bond from their time spend "growing together" at St. Ailbe. They remember the challenging classes, the fun traditions and remain proud of the school that gave most of us our start in the world. As a result, Alumni enjoy giving something back to the school that played an important part in their lives, and they are sincere in their wish to see that experience shared with future students.

Connect to your past. Build for the future.
In education, every year counts. Young people keep growing, learning, graduating and moving on.

The task of educating young people is too large and too important to rely on public dollars alone. There is a critical need for private support to
ensure the margin of excellence.

Your support of St Ailbe Catholic School  is an affirmation of the our mission and dedication to the community. You join an impressive group of Alumni, parents and friends who are making a difference for our students and the future of St. Ailbe school. Hurricane Katrina affected many young people and our school has opened its doors to displaced students.

Your Alma Mater counts on your support and needs your contributions towards its continued development. There are a variety of ways you can assist in our recruitment efforts. You could support St. Ailbe Catholic School in the following ways:

  1. First Spread the word.
  2. Notify Alumni. Help St. Ailbe re-establish linkage with its "missing" Alumni. Please send us the updated information of your fellow schoolmates upon obtaining their consent
  3. After joining St. Ailbe Alumni Association, you can participate in various activities they organize and keep closer contact with your fellow schoolmates. You will find your first school friends are
usually your longest and best friends. What a wonderful way to reconnect with your friends.
  4. You can also join the Challenge by simply making a gift to St Ailbe school.
  5. Please keep us informed with your current contact information, including e-mail address, telephone number and correspondence address.

    Email srkat1221@aol.com

Help us fulfill our crucial mission of teaching, research, community service and outreach, We just can’t do that as effectively without
    Alumni support.”

Your support will be a great help and means so much for the future of
St. Ailbe School.
How ever you choose to support, whether it be to support projects, programs, and services or your favorite department
and/or scholarship for a student. You will make a real difference for students at St. Ailbe Catholic School.. You will add immediate strength to your Alma Mater's ability to offer students an all-round education of superior quality.

So thank you for giving and do continue to take pride in the St. Ailbe's school  past, present and future achievements.

REFLECTIONS FROM FATHER JOHN BRESLIN

November 13, 2005

To bring one more soul closer to Christ and to help someone along the way”

For over seventy-five years, we have been blessed as a Church to give back to the larger community the gift of quality education.  Next week many of the recipients of that gift have been invited back to once again visit the place where their educational formation began.  Sunday, November 20, 2005 our Church community invites back the Alumni of St. Ailbe School to an Alumni Mass at 11:00 A.M.

Two years ago we created as Church an outreach to our Alumni through a new ministry called the Office of Development directed by Sr. Kathryn Harnett.  It is not a typical outreach created by a Church to reach out to the students educated at a parish school; but St. Ailbe Church is not a typical place.  It has been our intention as a Church community to reach out to our students in a new way after they graduate from our school.  By reaching out, we are inviting our alumni to a further participation in the life of our Church community.

As most are aware, our elementary school and pre-school are open to all children in our community.  Most of the students and their families belong to other faith traditions; but we unapologetically invite all to discover our faith tradition by reaching out via education.  This outreach is very similar to the St. Ailbe Faith, Hope, and Love Apartments.  Most of the residents are not members of our Church however our intention/mission as Church is “to bring one more soul closer to Christ and to help someone along the way”.  Our outreach ministries such as our education system, health and wellness ministry, housing, and community development attempt in different ways to address our mission.

Sunday, November 20, 2005 there undoubtedly will be many former students and their families once again visiting the place where so many blessings were received.  Under the direction of Sr. Kathryn and her “team”, invitations have gone out, calls have been made, and the connection has once again been reestablished.

Please pass the word about this festive gathering at our Church and school next Sunday.  It will be a great opportunity to reconnect with a bit of the past as we people live in the present and hope for the future.

Every day is a new day at St. Ailbe Church.  We are always mindful of our past as we live in the present and look forward with great hope toward the future.

We thank God for the families that have entrusted their children to our care.  We are confident that the children who were blessed to attend St. Ailbe Catholic School are better individuals today because of the firm foundation exhibited here.  We WELCOME ALL who will revisit St. Ailbe Church..

On the Battlefield for my Lord,

The small congregation financed the building of the frame Church located at 92nd and Washington (now Blackstone). Rev. W.S. Hennesy named the Church St. Ailbe, in honor of the Irish Saint.
