CLOSE UP WITH ST. AILBE PRAISE DANCERS

Praise Dancing  is an uplifting spiritual flow of harmonious joyful movement in motion . It's a gift of love and praise to God from our St. Ailbe "Angels" and it's inspiring. The dancers minister to people. The choreographer, Ms. Diane Brooks chooses a song she thinks is appropriate and decides on the combination of dance movements and teaches the dance to the girls. There is always a direct relationship between the dance and the song, which it amplifies. A singer who is singing is worshipping with his voice. A dancer who is dancing is worshipping through movement. The St. Ailbe Praise Dancers end each meeting with prayer. "We ask for prayers: for our hearts to be of worship and that our dancing to be of  spiritual offerings and encouragement. We, as followers of Christ, believe in dancing to celebrate the name of Jesus. We believe that God has given us the ability and freedom to artistically move our bodies for the purpose of praising Him.".

Praise dance involves graceful, ballet like movements that reflect the meaning of Christian worship songs. It often is used during church services and special occasions. Dancers sometimes clasp their hands at their hearts to represent prayer. They kneel, bow or stretch out their hands with their heads held back to demonstrate worship. They raise their hands high to the Heavens. They spin around to express joy. Whatever the dance steps, praise dance is all about praising God. Praise dancing brings the words of the spiritual songs to life. "We pray that God will use us to his glory, We pray that the congregation is receptive to the dance that we're doing, and that they will see God in us and that they can praise and worship him along with us in the dance. Our main purpose is to give praise unto to our Lord and Savior through the expression of dance". These young people have come to know the importance of what they do for God. Their artistic talent is demonstrated through dance as they openly display and show their love for God.

When St. Ailbe Praise "Angels" dance they move  in unison to the song's lyrics, reaching skyward with outstretched arms. Their white skirts sway as they move right, then left, then right again,  like flowing " lilies of the field." They dance not for the audience but for the one they honor, .they dance to glorify God! The dancers move to sounds from a CD player with sweeping, billowy gestures that are chosen to portray each song's message. Dance is a way of communication and this conversation is with God. The St. Ailbe Praise dancers are made up of  energetic and spirited youth. From their physical expression of praise these young people are learning  the importance of giving God the glory and honor in all things. They are building upon a solid Biblical foundation of "Praising God with dance", the movements of these young participants become the living examples of the love and Praise for God.

To worship God in dance is biblical. The Bible commends it (Psalm 149:3; 150:4). Scripture gives many references to the use of dance as a form of joyous celebration and of reverent worship. Nothing could be more clear from the scriptures that we are to be a people who praise the Lord through singing, playing instruments, dancing and by the very way that we live.

Dance and creative movement is an expression of joyous praise to our Lord . Creative movement is yet another way we can show God how much we love Him and is for those who love to bring praise to God. There will be an opportunity during the on coming year to join us as we "Praise His name with dancing". The Dove As a Christian symbol it was frequently used in ancient ecclesiastical art. As a symbol of the Holy Spirit it appears especially in representations of Our Lord symbolizing inspiration or rather Divine guidance. (Matthew 3: 16)   Matthew 3: 16 “After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened (for him), and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove (and) coming upon him”.
