Black College Tours  Leader -Alida Wallace

Mission Statement: St. Ailbe Catholic church realizes that
our African American culture is forged through the
educational struggles of our past and the promise of our
future. The mission of this ministry is to provide a Christian
atmosphere whereby students can be introduced to life on
historically Black Colleges and University campuses.

The St Ailbe parish sponsors a seven day tour each year to introduce
students to historically Black Colleges.  They visit different states
focusing on Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana.

These young people are spending their spring break in a very
productive way.
They find an educational environment that centers
on their academic and social success. They discover a strong sense
of belonging the moment they set foot on campus. Each student gains insights about our history and contributions to this country and the world. Historically black colleges have proven themselves extremely
valuable in the development of our youth.

This Ministry's sole purpose is to help build a brighter tomorrow for
our youth. In this endeavor we can not and will not ever stop.
Education of our youth is the key to our collective future!

Expectations: Adult Members can assist by encouraging students to
take part in a tour, sponsoring students financially, sharing personal
experiences about life on a historically Black college, University
campus, making themselves available to help chaperone one of the
trips.

Meeting Times: Monthly beginning in January, until the tour (usually
the week after Easter)
