Emmaus Retreats

Kathryn F. Worthen, Coordinator,  Women’s Emmaus Retreat
Isaiah Curry, Coordinator, Men’s Emmaus Retreat

Mission Statement:
This ministry provides opportunities
for a week-end of Spiritual Renewal in which participants
relive the Walk with Jesus on
                                                   "The Road to Emmaus".

The Emmaus Retreat
is a spiritual renewal program intended
to call forth and strengthen the development of Christian disciples.
It is also designed to support persons in their faith walk as they journey together toward a deeper intimacy and union with God
through a fellowship with the risen Christ.

The weekend retreat relives the walk of the disciples with Jesus
on the road to Emmaus after Christ’s crucifixion. Only after Christ
had broken bread with them and departed from their presence,
did they realize that this stranger was THE RISEN LORD.

Ordinary people conduct the weekend Emmaus Retreat. It is
an opportunity to journey with others, manifest our hearts and
recognize the God-within the human reality of our lives.  It is a
spiritually uplifting experience
.  Participants will have an
opportunity to look at their life and the lives of others and realize
that we live in a complicated and imperfect world.  Through our
belief in Christ and His Spirit that dwells within each of us, we
can become better Christians and have a better understanding of
ourselves and others.

Expectations: Any person 21 years of age or older.
Parishioners who have not previously attended the Emmaus
Retreat will be given first priority.

Registration Process
: Persons interested in attending the retreat
must complete and submit an application that will be available at
St. Ailbe ChurchYou may have questions answered or your name placed on a waiting list by calling the Rectory, 773-374-2345:

Meeting Time:
Two retreats are conducted annually,
one for the men and one for the women.

                                 Emmaus Weekend

The entire Emmaus Weekend is based on Luke’s Gospel,
Chapter 24; "Journey to Emmaus." So often in life we either
fail to recognize, or have fallen away from recognizing the
presence of Jesus in our lives. We may not realize that He is
always by our side walking with us. The Emmaus Weekend
creates an environment where all the people who attend will feel
unconditionally loved, accepted and challenged to a deeper
walk with Christ or an awakening of Him – so that they can
have the full experience of Jesus Christ walking with them.
Upon leaving the weekend, the attendees will know beyond the
shadow of a doubt, that they are unconditionally loved by God.

There are separate weekends for the Women and for the Men

Women - October (Dates Announced)
Men - November (Dates Announced)
Both retreats will be at Seton Retreat Center,
South Holland. Illinois
