Mission
statement: "To
transform our community by enhancing
existing real estate and to develop quality
and affordable housing."
The Housing Corporation Ministry
has been developed to work
with
neighborhood residents in addressing the
issues of housing disinvestments, (i.e. vacant
buildings, high rates of foreclosure,
declining physical conditions).
This Ministry will address issues
of social disinvestments, (i.e. criminal
activities, and a decline in the basic
neighborliness as people withdraw from day to
day life on the blocks out of fear and will
provide technical
assistance to tenants and homeowners, by
planning block projects that mobilize
volunteers to assist seniors with maintenance
and clean-up issues.
The Housing Corporation Ministry will
present Home Buyer and Home
Owner Seminars and Workshops. The
main goal of this Ministry is to assist local
residents as they take control over their
neighborhoods.
Expectations:
The legal structure of
this Ministry is that of a
Not-For-Profit Corporation, incorporated in
the State of Illinois. Thus
official responsibilities and
expectations are spelled out in the By-Laws
of
the Corporation, and are governed by the Board
of Directors. Thus training and experience as it
pertains to Not-For-Profit Corporations is important.
As various activities are developed, there is and
always will be a need for volunteers, who are
willing to commit some of their time and
talents. Presently all members of the Board of
Directors are members of St Ailbe Church.
Meeting Time: The meeting
of the Board of Directors is held the second Monday of each
month at 7:00 p.m.
